Clone REA289 recognizes the T cell leukemia/lymphoma protein, a 14 kDa symmetrical b-barrel structure protein also known as oncogene TCL-1 or protein p14 TCL1. The TCL1 locus on chromosome 14q32.1 is frequently involved in chromosomal translocations and inversions with one of the T cell receptor loci in human T cell leukemias and lymphomas. In the lymphoid compartment, TCL1 expression is limited to CD4-CD8-CD3- thymocytes, CD34+CD19+ pro–B cell through IgM-negative pre–B cells, as well as plasmacytoid subset of dendritic cells.
