Clone REA1387 recognizes the p63 antigen, also known as tumor protein 63, TP73L or CUSP. This transcription factor of the p53 family regulates cell growth and death in response to environmental stimuli such as DNA damage. p63 is expressed in a variety of human and mouse tissues, including proliferating basal cells of epithelial layers in the epidermis, cervix, urothelium, and prostate, but also in heart, kidney, placenta, skeletal muscle, testis and thymus. p63 is rarely mutated in human cancers.
