Clone REA251 recognizes the Octamer-binding protein 2 (Oct-2) antigen, a transcription factor also known as POU domain class 2 transcription factor 2 (POU2F2). Oct-2 is expressed primarily in B lymphocytes and the developing central nervous system. It regulates gene transcription in a number of tissues in addition to activating immunoglobulin gene expression for normal humoral responses to T-dependent and T-independent antigens. Oct-2 binds to conserved sites in immunoglobulin variable gene promoters, several immunoglobulin gene enhancers and to sites in the promoters of other genes whose expr
