Clone REA660 recognizes mouse interleukin 17A (IL-17A). Interleukin 17 (IL-17) is a family of cytokines that play a central role in adaptive immunity as well as autoinflammatory disorders. Data from several mouse models suggest that IL-17 plays a key role in the host defense against certain extracellular bacterial infections. Recently, a new mouse T helper cell subset has been identified, which is dinstinct from Tʜ1 and Tʜ2 cells: IL-17–producing CD4+ T helper (Tʜ17) cells.
