Spermatogenesis associated 24 (SPATA24), also known as TIPT2, is a nuclear and cytosolic DNA-binding protein that functions as a transcriptional co-regulator during germ cell differentiation. It exhibits high-affinity DNA binding and works in coordination with geminin (GMNN) and TATA-binding protein (TBP) to activate TATA box-containing promoters. Furthermore, it cooperates with GMNN and TBPL1 to activate TATA-less promoters, such as the NF1 promoter, suggesting a specialized role in regulating cell cycle-linked gene expression during spermatogenesis. Predominantly expressed in the testis and male reproductive tissues, SPATA24 is essential for proper male germ cell development and differentiation.
