Small nuclear ribonucleoprotein U4/U6.U5 subunit 27 (SNRNP27) is a ubiquitously expressed, serine/arginine-rich nuclear protein that serves as a component of the major spliceosome. It associates with the 25S U4/U6.U5 tri-snRNP complex and plays a central role in pre-mRNA splicing by facilitating splice-site recognition and spliceosome assembly. As a nucleic acid-binding protein, SNRNP27 participates in the processing of capped, intron-containing pre-mRNAs. Its activity is essential for the efficient maturation of primary transcripts within the nucleus.
