Fc receptor like B (FCRLB), encoded by the FCRLB gene, is a member of the Fc receptor-like (FCRL) family, which shares homology with classical Fc receptors but lacks high-affinity binding to immunoglobulins. This type I transmembrane protein contains extracellular immunoglobulin (Ig)-like domains and a cytoplasmic tail with immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibition motifs (ITIMs), suggesting regulatory roles in B-cell signaling. FCRLB is predominantly expressed in secondary lymphoid tissues, particularly in germinal center B cells, and may modulate B-cell receptor (BCL) signaling or immune tolerance. FCRLB is implicated in autoimmune disorders and B-cell malignancies. Genome-wide studies link FCRLB polymorphisms to autoimmune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Additionally, aberrant FCRLB expression is observed in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).
