Carboxypeptidase X, M14 family member 1 (CPXM1) is a protein encoded by the CPXM1 gene, which belongs to the M14 family of zinc carboxypeptidases. However, unlike typical carboxypeptidases, CPXM1 lacks detectable carboxypeptidase activity. It is thought to be an extracellular and/or membrane protein involved in cell-cell interactions. The protein contains a discoidin domain and a carboxypeptidase domain but lacks residues necessary for carboxypeptidase activity. CPXM1 has been associated with various diseases, including Mirror Movements 1 and Nephrotic Syndrome, Type 1. Recent studies have also linked CPXM1 to poor prognosis and immune cell infiltration in gastric cancer, suggesting its potential role in cancer progression.
