Clone REA1503 recognizes glutathione S-transferase (GST), a protein commonly used as an affinity tag in recombinant protein expression. Fusion of the GST gene with the gene for a target protein results in a GST fusion protein that can be efficiently purified by affinity chromatography due to GST’s high binding affinity for immobilized glutathione. After binding to a glutathione matrix, impurities are washed away, while the target protein can be eluted under gentle, non-denaturing conditions.
