Clone REA1091 recognizes the human COX-2 antigen, also known as Cyclooxygenase-2 or Prostaglandin G/H synthase 2 (PGHS-2). COX-2, an inflammatory mediator, converts arachidonic acid to prostaglandin H2 (PGH2). The induction of COX-2 is initiated by mitogens and cytokines during inflammation.
