Clone REA344 recognizes the mouse CD62P antigen, a 140 kDa single-pass type I membrane protein also known as P-selectin or platelet activation dependent granule-external membrane protein (PADGEM). CD62P is expressed by vascular endothelial cells and platelets. The protein is stored preformed in the Weibel-Palade bodies of endothelial cells and in the α-granules of platelets. Upon stimulation of these cells with a variety of agonists such as thrombin or histamine, P-selectin is rapidly translocated to the cell surface, where it mediates leukocyte-platelet and leukocyte-vascular endothelial cell
