The monoclonal antibody HTF-1 recognizes the 45 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein also known as TF (tissue factor). It functions as the high-affinity receptor for the coagulation factor VII and enables cells to initiate the blood coagulation cascades. It is reported, that the tissue factor exists in a membrane-bound and in a soluble form. It is expressed on activated endothelial cells and on monocytes, macrophages, and platelets, which are stimulated with inflammatory mediators such as LPS or TNF alpha.
