Clone REA931 recognizes the human protein Amyloid A type AA, located in plasma. Amyloid A, an acute phase marker, is an apolipoprotein of the HDL (high-density lipoprotein) complex, which is highly expressed in response to inflammation and tissue injury. Amyloid A increases the export of free cholesterol/phospholipid for reuse in the membranes of several cells, which are neccessary during acute inflammation and repair. REA931 recognizes amyloid deposits in all organs and tissues, also kidney and rectum. Additional Information: Clone REA931 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.
