Clone REA1461 recognizes the human ACE2 enzyme (Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2), a metallocarboxypeptidase that is an essential component of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS)/ renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system (RAAS). RAS ist reponsible for the regulation of blood pressure and volume balance of the body. Expression of ACE2 is found in lung, kidney, endothelium, testis, gastrointestinal system and heart. ACE2 is a functional receptor for SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2 coronaviruses.
